December 27, 2019

It’s time for another weekend of hockey in the Eastern Hockey Federation.
Here are some things to watch for the weekend of December 27 – 29, 2019

2009 – Squirt Major

  • Boston Jr. Huskies vs South Shore Kings (Dec. 28 – Foxboro Sports Center)

  • Sitting comfortable in the playoff picture, and with plenty of games in-hand, the Jr. Terriers (16-3-0) can start the new decade in second place with a W vs the Bandits.

U14 (Black Division)

  • Boston Jr. Huskies vs South Shore Kings (Dec. 28 – Foxboro Sports Center)

  • Over the past month, the Jr. Huskies (11-10-1, 23 Pts) have been the source of trouble for the division’s top-four. Since November 30, they have gone a combined 3-3-0 against Providence H.C. (North), Boston Jr. Eagles, South Shore Kings, and Islanders H.C. (East).

The Jr. Huskies will have one more matchup with top-four in 2019, when they visit the Kings (12-9-3, 27 Pts) in Foxboro.

U14 (White - Upper Division)

  • NorthStars H.C. vs Boston Jr. Eagles (Dec. 28 – Porazzo Memorial Rink)

  • Manchester Flames vs Boch Blazers (Dec. 28 – Boch Ice Center)

  • Boch Blazers vs NorthStars H.C. (Dec. 29 – NorthStar Ice Sports)

  • A year-end clash between the division’s top teams is set for Sunday, with the NorthStars (14-3-3, 31 Pts) and Blazers (14-4-2, 30 Pts) each looking to lead the pack to begin 2020.

2006 – Bantam Minor (Black Division)

  • Bay State Breakers vs North Shore Shamrocks (G) (Dec. 28 – Ristuccia Memorial Arena)

  • Minuteman Flames vs Bay State Breakers (Dec. 29 – The Bog)

  • Another team looking to climb the standings before the year ends, Bay State (15-8-1, 31 Pts) has the chance to jump into second place with a weekend sweep of the Minuteman Flames (7-10-4, 18 Pts) and Shamrocks (16-5-1, 33 Pts).

The current occupant of second place, North Shore came within two goals of knocking off the top-ranked Islanders H.C. (East) last weekend, falling by a score 5-3. Their challenging stretch to end the year wraps up Saturday, as they look to avenge their December 1 loss against the Breakers.

2006 – Bantam Minor (White Division)

  • Boston Jr. Huskies vs Boch Blazers (Dec. 28 – Boch Ice Center)

  • Boston Jr. Terriers (R) vs Boston Jr. Huskies (Dec. 29 – Canton Ice House)

  • The only two games scheduled for the division, all have some level of importance for the three teams in action.

A weekend sweep by Jr. Huskies (15-5-1, 31 Pts), would bring them into a tie with and idle IHC East (17-4-1, 35 Pts) for the division lead. On the opposite end, the Jr. Terriers (13-4-4, 30 Pts) can jump into the top-two through their win on Sunday and an upset by Boch (9-9-4, 22 Pts) on Saturday.

2007 – Pee Wee Major (Black Division)

  • Islanders H.C. (East) vs Minuteman Flames (Dec. 28 – New England Sports Center)

  • Minuteman Flames vs Islanders H.C. (West) (Dec. 29 – Skate III)

  • The third-place Flames (12-7-3, 27 Pts) wrap up 2019 with the IHC gauntlet. First, they welcome the nearly-unstoppable East team (21-0-2, 44 Pts) to the N.E. Sports Center on Saturday. The following day, they make a visit to an IHC West squad (12-9-3, 27 Pts) looking to leap them in the standings.

2007 – Pee Wee Major (Silver Division)

  • Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds vs North Shore Shamrocks (O) (Dec. 28 – Ristuccia Memorial Arena)

    • Game 1 – 10:40 a.m.

    • Game 2 – 5:20 p.m.

  • Bay State Breakers vs Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds (Dec. 29 – Enfield Twin Rinks)

  • Now 0-0-2 since starting the season with a 19-game winning streak, the division-leading Jr. Thunderbirds (19-0-2, 40 Pts) look to get back on track with a three-game slate to wrap up 2019.

For the second-place Breakers (15-8-3, 33 Pts) this is their first meeting with Springfield since September 29, when they suffered a 5-3 setback on the road.

2008 – Pee Wee Minor (Black Division)

  • Manchester Flames vs Minuteman Flames (Dec. 28 – New England Sports Center)

  • Providence H.C. (North) vs Minuteman Flames (Dec. 28 – New England Sports Center)

  • NorthStars H.C. vs Minuteman Flames (Dec. 29 – New England Sports Center)

  • Holding the top spot in the division by just one point, Minuteman (16-2-5, 37 Pts) will look to increase their lead with their three-game weekend homestand.

2008 – Pee Wee Minor (White Division)

  • Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds vs Northern Cyclones (Dec. 28 – Cyclones Arena)

  • Minuteman Flames vs Northern Cyclones (Dec. 28 – Cyclones Arena)

  • Though they won’t have another chance to play the Connecticut Jr. Rangers (15-4-1, 31 Pts) in the regular season, the Cyclones (13-3-2, 28 Pts), have the chance to avenge their loss from last weekend by dethroning them in the standings this weekend. To do so, they will need to earn all four points against the Minuteman Flames (3-11-2, 8 Pts) and Jr. Thunderbirds (10-4-2, 22 Pts).
